В рамках общеевропейской кампании по отказу от свалок городок Гульберген в Нидерландах избавлялся от 10 млн. тонн отходов, скопившихся в окрестностях, поэтапно.
Первым пунктом органический мусор был тщательно отделён и использован в выработке природного газа, которым снабжаются все окружающие поселения. Затем еще часть отходов была утилизирована.
Оставшуюся половину свалки неорганических отходов как перерабатывать, так и утилизировать было невыгодно и неэкологично. Но вскоре нашлось “спортивное” решение: прямо поверх мусорного района было постелено поле для игры в гольф.
В настоящее время в гульденбергнском гольф-клубе регулярно проводятся соревнования. Поле для гольфа занимает три с половиной километра, и никто из беспечных игроков и не вспомнит, что похоронено под окружающими его зелёными лужайками.

Today, I went to the beach front with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally off topic but I had to tell someone!
