Новый пластик разлагается на солнце
Учёные университета Северной Дакоты разработали технологию создания полимеров, способных разлагаться под воздействием солнечного света. Биоразлагаемый пластик, созданный на основе растительного сырья и нетоксичных продуктов нефтепереработки, позволит решить ключевую проблему утилизации пластиковых отходов. В то же время, высокая способность к разрушению сильно ограничивает область применения нового материала.
Профессор университета Сараванакумар Раджендран совместно с группой учёных трудились над новым материалом несколько лет. За его основу была взята фруктоза и специальные поглощающие свет молекулы. В ходе проведенных экспериментов полученный пластик растворялся через 2-3 часа под действием ультрафиолетового излучения с длиной волны 350 нанометров.
Несмотря на невозможность изготовления мебели, посуды и других популярных пластиковых предметов, новый биоматериал планируется использовать для создания внутренних деталей технических приборов. Важным является тот факт, что после растворения полимер можно будет вновь использовать в создании биопластика. Экспериментальная проверка нового пластика ещё не была завершена, поэтому в качестве производственного материала он появится только через несколько лет.
