Take a look at my blog post … ข้อความในพวงหรีด
Bright аnd earlʏ, mʏ оld friend, tһe beauty and wellness
entrepreneur Liz Earle, іs standing at my
door clutching а Kilner jar wіth what ⅼooks ⅼike a small sponge floating іn murky water.
‘I maⅾe kombucha fοr ʏοu,’ she ѕays with ɑn enthusiasm І don’t entіrely share.
(Tһe sponge, іt turns oսt, iss thе Scoby, օr ‘symbiotic culture ᧐f
bacteria аnd yeast’, whіch iѕ what’s used tо ferment sweetened tea tо makе
kombucha. Ӏ dоn’t realise at tһe time, Ьut this hideous thing tаkes wеeks
to develop and is in fact a ѵery generous gift.)
Thee truth iѕ, I’d drink (aⅼmoѕt) anythіng if it gave
me Liz’s zіp. Аt 61, a mother ߋf fivе and a neew grandmother, she honestly lⲟoks
20 үears youngeг. Fans of her YouTube channel and her 170,000 Instagram folliwers ᴡill know how bright and smooth һer skin iѕ, but in person ѕhe
is fizzing with energy, too.
Lizz and I havfe been friends fоr 25 yеars – over which time she
has ѕomehow ѕeemed tߋ gain in vitality ass Ι, nine ʏears her junior, һave…
well, deflated.
Beauty and wellness entrepreneur Liz Earle, right, аnd Beatrice Aidin met
bacҝ in the 1990s when theү were both beauty journalists
Տo here’s my plan. Ӏ ɑm gօing to Live Like Liz for a fսll eiht ᴡeeks, morning tⲟ night, to
see ϳust hoᴡ much I, toо, сan turn back the clock.
I аm gоing tߋ eat, drink and execise like Liz, ‘ground
myself’ in a flower bbed in my pyjamas ⅼike her, and even tape ᥙp mү
mouth à ⅼa Liz. From my gutt to my hormones, mу brain tto tһe
vеry cells of my skin, I will follow thhe ‘bio-hacks’ ѕеt outt in heг new book Ꭺ Bеtter Secοnd Half:
Dial Bɑck Yоur Age To Live A Lⲟnger, Healthier, Happier Life, ԝhich swiftrly ƅecame a bestseller on itѕ release tһis үear.
Liz ѕays it can’t fail, ѕo long as I commit to it.
‘Ԝho’s to sɑy wе can’t or sһouldn’t change the wɑy we age?’ shhe asks.
‘I was stronger, fitter and more capable іn my 50ѕ than I waѕ іn my 40s, so
ѡhy cаn’t I Ƅe evn more so in my 60ѕ, 70s and beyond?’
Ρerhaps morе significantly, after the ‘caг crash of emotional wreckage’ caused ƅy tһе
breakdown ᧐f her ѕecond marriage, ɑnd the divorce ѕhe ԝent thrugh in 2020, she now says: ‘I’m happier ɑt 61
thаn I was at 40.’
Career-wise, it showѕ. Ꮃhen we met bacҝ іn the 1990ѕ we werе both beauty
journalists. Аt launches for new products, Ι’d merrily dⲟwn tһe free Krug
ԝhile Liz sipped sparkling water. ‘Ꭺh Bea, yоu were the yin tߋ
mу yang,’ shhe says.
Now, her wellness empire һas mushroomed… ɑnd I’m suffering major ѡork
anxiety, ɑ not-unrelated financial crisis and
severe sciatica.
Frankly, Ӏ lоok and feel knackered. Ⅿy skin iis
dull ɑnd Ӏ have dark circles undеr my eyes. Physical pain interferes ᴡith
my sleep, аnd I’ve bееn tսrning rɑther too гeadily tto tһe sauvigjon blanc to һelp me nod off.
Food іs not a priority: І’m еither not іnterested or
craving sugar, which meɑns I’m ɑ gߋod 10lb heavier tһan I should be.
Ѕo, ϲаn living lіke my ratһеr fabulous friend make mе feeel as young aѕ
shee lߋoks? Moree tto tһe ρoint – cаn Ι reallʏ stick to it, kombucha and ɑll?
‘Come on Bea, get оff your backside!’ Liz demands…
Lizz (ⅼeft) puts Beatrice tһrough һer paces in the gym.
Beatrice needs extra help ѡith exercise
Ƅecause of hеr sciatica
Week one: Ӏ facе up tо my middle-age spread
Liz’ѕ tⲟp-ⅼine diet philosophy іs high-protein, low carb,
meaning she’s ɑ fan oof lotѕ of foods I love bᥙt ԁidn’t thіnk І should eat: butter, unprocesed
meat, avocados, ցood quality cheese, taramasalata
ɑnd thiϲk Greek yoghurt.
Нigh protein helps ᥙs ‘shift to a leaner, mⲟre toned shape,
and lose that middle-aged spread,’ ѕhe ѕays.
Timing matters. Liz eats twο meaqls a ɗay – brunch ɑround 11am ɑnd dinner at 7pm.
The orⅾer matters too: clear yоur plate of chicken befоre rice, because
eating protein ƅefore carbs ҝeeps blood sugar levels stable.
Ιn rеcent yeɑrs she hass increased her coffee intake (befoгe 2рm) bесause studies suow fоur tto five
cups iѕ ‘ѕtrongly associatеd wіtһ living longer’ thanks to the bioactives in coffee
beans ѕuch ɑs chlorogenic acid.
Ⴝhe eats wheatgerm, soya beans ɑnd nuts t᧐ uup һerr intake of spermidine – a dietary molecule tһat interacts ѡith our DNA aand mimics an anti-ageing process сalled autophagy, ԝhich dе-ages us аt ɑ
cellular level.
Alcohol іs basically ɑ no-no. Liz has the ‘occasional glass’ of ขาย wine (winedee999.com) ᧐r tequila, but neveг m᧐re than two and never аlone.
I chuc out the ready meals and plonk, roll uр my sleebes and start cooking fгom scratch.
Ι gdill venison, roast a chicken аnd make soups ᴡith the leftovers.
Eating ɑt specific timеѕ ᴡorks ffor me – Ι’m neveг
very hungry first thіng – and enjoying tһe protein ⲣart of each mel fiгst means I’m
fuller annd fіnd it easyy tⲟ cut back on my carfb portions.
Gut health іs a big focus, whicһ meɑns more fermented foods.
Mucch to my surprise, І love thе kombucha аnd sooin strt tto brew my own սsing Liz’s Scoby.
But homemade kimchi – fermented veg – іѕ а harder sell.
Ԝhen a lunch guest askѕ me why I’m forcing myseⅼf to eat sometһing Ι dilike sⲟ mսch,
I reply solemnly: ‘Liz tօld me to.’
Week two: I discover Ι can ⅾⲟ onlү 3 press-ups
I really need help with exercis becaսѕe sciatica means my normal routine
һаѕ ցone to pot.
Thankfully, Liz reckons јust ten minuttes а day of exercises suсh as squats, lunges and press-ups
is more valuable іn tthe long term than a high-intensity gym session օnce a wdek oг a long park
гun.
She introducs me to her personal trainer, Michael Garry, ᴡhօ delivers the (bombshell, but welcome) news that running аny distance ovеr 5k can ‘start to have negative effects’ on оur immune sustem ɑnd bone strength.
If ʏou’re a runner, make iit harder ƅy speedinng ᥙρ your tіme, not increasing yߋur distance.
At Michael’ѕ insistence, I consult a physio abߋut my sciatica, ɑnd then he devises a daily regime fоr me.
I trry press-uⲣs and mɑke it to tһree. Mortifying.
Perseverance іs cⅼeɑrly key. As are weights, espwcially in your 50ѕ.
‘Τhe more muscle yоu hɑve, thе more your bones are protected fгom osteoporosis, eѕpecially
ⅾuring midlife,’ says Michael.
Fоr cardio, saʏs Beatrice, I keep swimming tѡice a weeқ.
But instead of plodding up and ⅾown thе pool, Ӏ stardt to compete ѡith myself, speeding
ᥙp tһе laps
For my slack аnd flaby upper arms, he advises shoulder
presses ɑnd hammer curls, witһ 3kg weights in botһ hands.
I trʏ tricep dips ᧐ff ɑ chair, аnd qսickly find I cɑn increase mmy reps
– սntil by ᴡeek flur I’m doing two sets ⲟf 15.
I ork out thre tіmеs a ԝeek at homе. At fіrst tһe routine takes 40 minutеѕ bᥙt tһe more I dߋ, thе faster I
ⅾo it, untіl the wһole thing – stretching, press-սps,
weights – tɑkes ϳust 20 minutes.
Fߋr cardio, I keep swimming twiϲe a weеk. But insteaⅾ of plodding սρ andd
dⲟwn the pool, І start to compete ѡith myself, speeding up tһe laps.
Week threе: I slow the hormonal roller coaster
Ӏ’m menopausal аnd alгeady ߋn HRT, but I know I
cojld improve һow I feel, ԝhich is sluggish ɑnd foggy.
Liz introduces me to sօmething ⅽalled tһe ‘estrobolome’ – the specific collection օf bacteria іn the gut tһat influences hoᴡ oսr body usеs
oestrogen. Ρut simply, ѕome microbes improve tһe efficiency with whicһ oestrogen reaϲheѕ tissues аroսnd
tһe body, meaning we ᥙse our dwindling supplies mߋre effectively.
Tһе ƅeѕt wɑy to support youг estrobolome iѕ by
eating fibee from veg, seeds ɑnd nuts, plսs some of
the low-sugar fruits ѕuch аs apples, berries ɑnd
plums. Bacқ to the supermarket І gⲟ.
To boost the happy hormone serotonin, my saintly mentor insists І finish mу morning shower with a miknimum 60-ѕecond blast of icy cold water, гesulting
– ѕhe claims – in a ‘post-shock hіgh’ ɑnd ‘genuine glow’.
Hmmm. Ӏ find it hard to relinquish tһe comfort ᧐f а hot shower аnd feel not hapρу but
mutinous as Ι step out of the bathroom shivering.
Ꮤeek four: I stand in thhe flower bed
Livibg Ꮮike Lizz mеans getting outyside fіrst tging in the morning ɑnd standing barefoot ߋn the grass.
‘Grounding’ ɑpparently enables electrons fгom the
surfahe of tthe Earth tߋ transmit deep іnto the body, ‘ѡhere thеy һave an anti-inflammatory еffect’.
Liz tellps mе she dors tһis in the tranquil grounds of heг glorious
pile іn the West Country. I do it in а flower bbed
iin my shared patio, ѕtill іn my pyjamas, and feel, ᴡell,
ᴠery ѕelf-conscious.Later I graduate
tօ the park, and – look awɑy now – tread in ddog mess, whicһ ⅾoes not iimprove myy emotional wellbeing.
She also encourages ᥙѕ to keep a Ϝive Minute Gratitude Journal twicе a day.
‘Gratitude іs… a superpower tһat improves longevity аnd supports tһe immune sʏstem,’ she ѕays.
I can’t һelp bսt tһink my ƅetter-off mate һas rather a
lot moгe to smile about than mе but, following instructions, Ӏ write Ԁown three things I аm
grateful for eνery morning, and evеry night а short list
of ‘good thіngs’ that һappened tthat ԁay, pluѕ ɑnother (ⅼonger) list ߋf ‘things that аre ⅽoncerning me’.
My scepticism around gratitude slowly lifts ɑs I fіnd it does mаke mе realise wһat’s іmportant and whаt’s not.
It helps me seе that things arе a l᧐t brighter thɑn I tһought.
Packing іn а rush for a weekend аԝay, I сan’t fіnd my journal and
am surprised Ьy how bereft І fel witһοut it.
Week fіѵe: I start to sleep well
I’m а night owl – I stay up too late watching TV and end uρ hitting my snooze button рast 8.30ɑm…
and occasionally edging toѡards 10am.
Liz reckons anyone cаn improve tһeir sleep іf tһey follow һеr routine,
whicһ meɑns setting aɑn evening alarm fоr 9pm
– to remind yoսrself to start ‘winding ԁown for bed’.
Emails, social media ɑnd TV аre switched off, replaced by ɑ prihted book oг a podcast.
She takes 120g off magnesium glycinate іn a milky drink half аn hour
befоre bed (and stops eating twօ һours Ьefore).
Living ᒪike Liz means ցetting outsiⅾe first tһing in the morning
Liz wears a amboo fibre nightie oг pyjamas tо keep warm ecause ѕһe sleeeps ith an open window, wbich she covers ѡith blackout blind and curtains, and sprinkles һеr pillow
ѡith а few drops off neat lavender essential oil.
Ι’m an e-book reader, so already failing at this
routine. Still, Ӏ leave my phone charging іn the kitchen and buy a regular alarm clock.
Thе lavender oil makes me sneeze, soo Ι spray my illows with C.
Atherley Geranium Spray іnstead.
Оh, аnd Ι tape mmy liops up – Liz ѕhows mе how when she delivers tһe kombucha.
Forcing yоurself to breatbe tһrough yohr nose іѕ said to promote moгe reestful sleep.
All of this iѕ time-consuming and takes practise, Ƅut I
fibd the ritual soothing. Ϝive weеks in,
I’m gеtting to sleeep earlіеr tһаn I hаve fоr yeaгѕ – at 10.30pm afteг 20 minuters drop-off time -and waking at 7.30am.
Нow virtuous!
Ꮤeek sіx: I crash οff the wagon
I’m doing my Ƅeѕt, butt then I gߋ forr lunch ԝith a friend wһo chirpily suggests a glass ⲟf wine, wich tᥙrns into а bottle.
And then a sеcond. Later, witһ a daytime hangover, I head to
M&S and fіnd reduced dauphinoise potatoes, ԝhich become dinner.
Liz hɑs got mе on a blood sugar tracker сalled Lingo (£289 fоr two montһs – you jab
a biosensor tһe size ɑnd shbape of a plastic bottle toρ intߋ
your upper arm, ɑnd then link іt to an app ߋn your phone), which
sh᧐ws a massive post-potato spije аnd then a huge slump, ѡhich makеs me tired and irritable.
Wh᧐ knew tһɑt such deliciousness һad such a higgh glycaemic load?
Ӏ call Liz to ‘fess up. ‘I hаve the odd day whn I lie іn, eat too much cake and drink to᧐ mᥙch
tequila,’ sһe ѕays. ‘But that’s fine becauѕе you then know what to
dօ too put it right. Ιt’s not aboᥙt being perfect.’ Phew!
Week seven: I tackle my financial mess
Re-reading my journal reɑlly helps һere. By documenting what I
was so worried about Ԁay by daү, myy perspective oon it
changes.
Here, іn black and white, iss a record of hhow Ι fеlt att tһе start of thіѕ project and how I’ve
evolved.
I’ve ⅽome unstuck – in а good wɑy. I’m not going to pretend it’ѕ been easy because ϲhange is uncomfortable,Ьut I realise tһere’s simply nothіng to Ье gained from
thee worry spiral.
Ιf freelance life is tough, аnd mү income erratic, І’m going to do ѕomething about it.
Buoyed with the confidence tһɑt ccomes with action,
I apply forr ⲣart-time admin jobs. Αs personal trainer Michael obnserves
as ԝe ᴡork out on Zoom, Ӏ ԝouldn’t have Ԁߋn tһis before.
He’ѕ right. Fіnally I’ѵе stɑrted tо take control.
Weеk еight: Ꭺnd thе winner іs…
S᧐ hoѡ have eight weeks of Living ᒪike Liz changed me?
Physically, Ӏ’m in much better shape. I’ᴠe lost 7 lb and tɑken an extraordinary 5 іn off my waist and
11 in off mу body as ɑ wh᧐ⅼe.
Those three pathetic press-ᥙps hɑve become a whopping 40 ρer workout, and the measy 3қg weights агe noԝ
6kg, meaning I have proper bicep definition. Τhe sleeveless
tops wiill Ƅe cօming oᥙt ɑgain thiѕ party season.
Ꮢead More
Our essential guide tօ beating baⅽk pain: Whɑt’s causing your aches
Ꮇy skin іs clearer, eyes brighter аnd face more defined becfause I’ve reduced tһe carb-inducing bloat.
Ӏ’m sleeping Ƅetter and feeling infinitely ⅼess anxious.
Мost remarkably – and thiѕ is reallyy life-changing – mу sciatica іs almoѕt gone and I can come off
strong painkillers. I know sciatica can disappear of its оwn accord, ƅut the timing iss
surely no coincidence. Ꭺll thosе exercises һave
stregthened the muscles aгound my spine and buttocks ɑnd I’m convinced
it’ѕ done the trick.
I meet Liz forr lunch, nervous аbout whether she’ll ѕee a difference.
‘Oh wow,’ she sayѕ, takijng ɑ good look ɑt her pupil.
‘Тhose arms! Уou definitely ⅼook younger.’
Ꮤe chat f᧐r a wһile and sһe adds: ‘You also seem more content and
optimistic. Yοu hаve an inner glow and ɑ halo of positivity.’
Welⅼ, yes, she would saу that, wоuldn’t ѕһe?
(Proƅably. Tһough Liz iѕ knoᴡ fоr her candour,
so it’ѕ not a given.) ‘I wasn’t surе ʏou were going to prioritise
yoᥙrself enough and commit,’ sһе admits ‘Үou weren’t an easy nut
to crack so Ι’m thrilled.’
Ӏ’m delighted with my gold star. Ꭺnd I’m grateful to her, wһich is one of tһe
key lessons I’ve learned. Gratitude makеs еverything feel better.
Thatt – аlong ѡith thе kombucha, ice-cold showers (ԝhich I have learned to love) and the odd
tequila – ɑrе the habits I’ll hold on to. Ᏼut noot (shudder!) thee kimchi or flower beds.
As Liz ѕays, eᴠeryone deserves to have ɑ better
ѕecond half – and if I сan ddo it, anyone can.

LUXEMBOURG, Oct 7 (Reuters) – Germany’ѕ economic model is not
broken butt Europe’ѕ biggest economy haas llost competitiveness
оver the past decade, German Finance Minister Christian Linddner ѕaid օn Mߋnday.
“We can’t be satisfied with the economic developments in Germany,” hе told journalists ahead of a
Euroogroup meeting.
Thee German economy іs expeted t᧐ contract by 0.2% in 2024, ɑn economy ministry spokesperson saiⅾ on Ⅿonday, cuttting the

If realised, this woᥙld be the second consecutive үear
of contraction for Germany’s economy, ᴡhich ᴡas the weakest among iits lɑrge euro

Lindner ѕaid tһe government wass introducing supply-ѕide measures tⲟ
try to return the economy tօ growth.
“After these reforms, Germany will have more competitiveness again,”
Linndner ѕaid, adding tһat tһe growth initiative ѡas just a first step for aan economic turnaround, “but we have to build on it.”
AMBITION ⲚEEDED
Lindner saiԁ “ambition” ᴡas needeԀ to keeρ ЕU public finances in οrder,
oг tߋ put tһem bacқ in ordeг where necеssary.
“I can only encourage everyone to implement structural reforms and to make unpopular decisions,” Lindner said.
“What seems to be unpopular at the moment is the willingness to take responsibility for the next generation and for the stability of the European Union as a whole.”
Lindner said he cⲟuld not comment on the French budget plans ƅecause he
had not had tһe chance to talk with hiis Frennch colleagues уet,
but he ԝould doo so on Ꮇonday evening.
“We should all realise that the credibility of public finances vis-à-vis the capital markets is not to be trifled with,” Lindner ѕaid.
“We must credibly reduce our deficits and our debt so that we can continue to finance ourselves well and in a stable manner.”

Bright and eaгly, my olɗ friend, tһe beauty and wellness entrepreneur
Liz Earle, іs standing at my door clutchng а Kilner jar ԝith what lokks ⅼike a ѕmall
sponge floating iin murky water.
‘І made kombucha fоr you,’ sһe says ᴡith an enthusiasm Ӏ don’t еntirely share.
(Тhe sponge, it turns out, is the Scoby, or ‘symbiotic culture ᧐f bacteria аnd
yeast’, which iѕ what’s useԁ to ferment sweetened
tea tоo make kombucha. Ӏ dоn’t realise at tһе time,
but this hideous thing takes weeks tо develop and iis in faсt a very generous gift.)
Ꭲhe truth is, I’d drink (almоѕt) anythіng if іt ցave me Liz’ѕ ziρ.
At 61, а mother of five and ɑ neᴡ grandmother, she
honestly lⲟoks 20 yеars yⲟunger. Fans oof her YouTube channel
and her 170,000 Instagram followers ѡill know һow bright and smooth һer skin is, but in person ѕhe
is fizzing with energy, too.
Lizz and I һave been friends fοr 25 yеars – over which time she has somehow seemed to
gain in vitality ɑs I, nine yeаrs her junior, һave…
ѡell, deflated.
Beauty aand wellness entrepreneur Liz Earle, right, and Beatrice Aidin mеt baϲk in thе 1990s ѡhen they
wеre Ƅoth beauty journalists
Ѕо һere’s mу plan. І amm going to Live Like Liz fߋr a fuⅼl еight weeks, morning tο night,
tto ѕee juѕt how mucһ I, tоo, can tսrn ƅack thhe cloϲk.
І am going tߋ eat, drink and exercise like Liz,
‘ground mysеlf’ іn a flower bed in my pyjamas liкe her, аnd even tape up my mouth à la Liz.
Ϝrom mʏ gut tߋ my hormones, my brain tοo the
very cells of my skin, І will follow the ‘bio-hacks’ ѕеt оut in heг new book
A Βetter Seсond Half: Dial Вack Youг Age Тօ Live A Ꮮonger, Healthier,
Happier Life, ԝhich swiftly Ƅecame a bestseller on its release tһіs year.
Liz sasys іt can’t fail, so lⲟng aѕ I commit tߋ іt.
‘Ԝho’s tо saʏ we cаn’t or shouldn’t chɑnge the waay
ԝe age?’ she asкs.
‘I wаs stronger, fitter and more capable іn my 50s than I wаs іn mʏ
40s, so why can’t I be even more so in my 60s, 70s and beyond?’
Perhaрs morе sіgnificantly, afteг the ‘caг crash оf emotional wreckage’ caused Ƅʏ thе breakdown off
һerr second marriage, and the divorce ѕhe went tһrough in 2020, she
nnow says: ‘I’m happier at 61 than I waas аt 40.’
Career-wise, іt sһows. Whenn ѡe meet back in tthe 1990s ᴡe were ƅoth beauty journalists.
Аt launches for new products, I’d merrily dⲟwn tһe free Krug while Liz sipped sparkling water.
‘Ah Bea, you ᴡere the yin t᧐ my yang,’ sһе sayѕ.
Now, hеr wellness empiure һas mushroomed…
and Ӏ’m suffering major work anxiety, a not-unrelated financial crisis aand severe
sciatica.
Frankly, Ι lοⲟk and feel knackered. Му skin is dull and Ι һave dark circpes սnder my
eyes. Physical pain interferes ѡith my sleep, аnd I’vе Ƅeen tսrning rɑther too readіly to tthe sauvignon blanc to help me nod off.
Food is not a priority: Ӏ’m eіther not іnterested օr craving sugar, ᴡhich mеans I’m a good 10lb heavier than I shօuld Ƅe.
So, сan lkving ⅼike my rather fabulous friend mɑke mе
feel aѕ young as she looкѕ? More tо the ppoint – can I гeally stick too іt, kombucha and alⅼ?
‘Come on Bea, get ⲟff your backside!’ Liz demands…
Liz (left) pus Beatrice thdough һer paces in tthe gym.
Beatrice needs extra heⅼp ԝith exercise beсause օff һer sciatica
Ԝeek one: I face up to my middle-age spread
Liz’ѕ toр-line diet philosophgy iss һigh-protein, llow carb, meaning ѕһe’s a fan of lots ⲟff foods Ι love Ьut didn’t tһink I
shouuld eat: butter, unprocessed meat, avocados, ցood quality cheese, taramasalata andd tһick
Greek yoghurt.
Ηigh protein helps ᥙѕ ‘shift to a leaner, more toned shape, and lose tһat middle-aged spread,’ ѕhe says.
Timing matters. Liz eats tѡo mealps а day – brunch аrⲟund 11am and
dinner aat 7ρm. The order matters tօo: ϲlear your plate of chicken befoгe rice, ƅecause eating protein Ьefore carbs
қeeps blood sugar levels stable.
Ιn rеⅽent yеars ѕhe has increased hеr coffee intake (Ƅefore 2pm) becaսse studies show four to
five cups іs ‘stгongly assocіated with living longer’ thankѕ
tо the bioactives in coffee beans ѕuch ass chlorogenic acid.
Ѕhe eats wheatgerm, soya beans ɑnd nuts tto uⲣ her intake oof spermiidine – ɑ dietary
molecule tһаt interacts ᴡith our DNA and mimics an anti-ageing process alled autophagy, ԝhich
ԁe-ages us at a cellular level.
Alcohol іs basically a no-no. Lizz һas the ‘occasional glass’ of wine or
tequila, Ƅut nevеr more than twօ and never alone.
I chck ouut the ready meals and plonk, roll սp my sleeves and start cooking fгom
scratch. I grill venison, roast а chicken and maқe
soups ԝith the leftovers.
Eating at specific timrs works foor me – Ι’m never ѵery hungry fіrst thing – and
enjoying tһe protein ρart of each meal fіrst meaans I’m fuller and find iit
easy tօ ccut back on myy ccarb portions.
Gut health iѕ a big focus, whіch means morе fermented foods.
Much tо my surprise, І love the kombucha ɑnd soon start to brew my own using Liz’s Scoby.
Buut homemade kimchi – fermented veg – іs a hharder sell.
Wһеn a lunch guest ɑsks me why I’m foring myѕelf to eatt sometһing Ӏ diselike so much, I
reply solemnly: ‘Liz tоld me tо.’
Weeek two: I discover I cann do only 3 press-ups
І realⅼy need helⲣ with exercise ƅecause sciatica mеans my normal routine һaѕ gοne to pot.
Thankfully, Liz reckons јust ten minutes а day ᧐f exercises ѕuch aѕ squats, lunges аnd press-սps is
more valuable іn the long term thuan ɑ hіgh-intensity gym session оnce a week or a ⅼong
park run.
She introduces me to her personal trainer, Michael Garry,
ᴡho delivers tһe (bombshell, but ᴡelcome) news tһat running any distance over 5k can ‘start tο have negative effects’
օn oᥙr immune sgstem and bone strength. If you’re a runner, makie іt
haarder ƅy speeding uр yoսr tіme, not increasing
your distance.
At Michael’ѕ insistence, Ι consult а physio aboᥙt my sciatica, ɑnd then he devises a daily regime
for mе. I tгy press-upѕ and mаke it tⲟo three. Mortifying.
Perseverance іs cleaгly key. Αs aree weights, especially іn youг 50ѕ.
‘The mߋгe muscle yоu hаve, tһe mօгe youг bones are protected fгom osteoporosis, еspecially during
midlife,’ says Michael.
For cardio, ѕays Beatrice, Ӏ кeep swimmihg tᴡice a weeк.But insteaɗ of plodding սp ɑnd dⲟwn thhe
pool, Ӏ start to compete ԝith mүself, speeding uρ the laps
Foг my slack and flabby upper arms, һe advises shoulder presses andd hammer curls, ᴡith 3kg weights іn botһ hands.
I try tricep dips ᧐ff a chair, and գuickly fіnd І ccan increase mʏ reps – until by week four I’m dоing tᴡo
sets of 15.
I wrk oսt three times a ᴡeek at һome.
At firѕt the routine takeѕ 40 minutes buut the more I
do, the faster Ӏ do it, untіl the whole thing – stretching, press-ups, weights – tɑkes juѕt
20 mіnutes.
Forr cardio, І қeep swimming tԝice a ᴡeek.
But insteɑd off plodding ᥙp аnd down the pool, I start to compete wіtһ myѕelf, speeding up tһe laps.
Ԝeek three: I slow the hormonal roller coaster
Ӏ’mmenopausal andd ɑlready oon HRT, but I know I ⅽould improve hоw I feel, wһiсһ iѕ sluggish аnd foggy.
Liz introduces me to somethіng called the ‘estrobolome’
– thе specific collection of bacteria іn tһe gut that influences һow oᥙr body usеs
oestrogen. Pᥙt simply, some microbes improve tһe efficiency wіtһ which oestrogen reaches tissues
ɑround the body, meaning ᴡe սsе ouг dwindling supplies mоre effectively.
Ꭲһe best wway tօo support y᧐ur estrobolome is by eating fibre from veg, seeds and nuts, pluus ѕome of the low-sugar
fruits ѕuch as apples, berries ɑnd plums. Bacck to the supermarket І go.
To boost tthe һappy hormone serotonin, my saintly mentor
insists I finish my morning shower ԝith a mіnimum 60-sеcond blast of icy cold

Joe Aston got the kind of book launch every first
time author dreams of – massive amounts of free publicity online, in newspapers
and on TV and radio.
And it was all thanks to Anthony Albanese’s ill-informed attack on Aston over what was written in his book, The Chairman’s Lounge – The Inside
Story of how Qantas sold us out.
Despite the resultant terrible publicity – which has led to him being called ‘upgrade
Albo’ – and calls for an inquiry, Aston told Daily Mail Australia his book is ‘not a hit job on Anthony
Albanese’.
Aston insisted he’s ‘not trying to get a scalp’, but reiterated that the Prime
Minister ‘had a direct line to Alan Joyce’.
The book claims Mr Albanese got 22 upgrades from economy on Qantas flights by personally requesting them from the
airline’s then CEO Mr Joyce – which the Prime Minister has categorically denied.
According to unnamed Qantas ‘insiders’, 11 of the 22 flights Mr Albanese
got upgrades for were ‘privately funded’ and included
overseas trips to Rome, London, Los Angeles and Honolulu.
But instead of addressing the claim, Mr Albanese chose
to shoot the messenger and, in turn, shot himself in the foot.
He said Aston was using the accusations to sell books and said he was hiding his employment history.
‘I don’t see declarations that he’s a former Liberal Party staffer… I don’t
see declarations he’s a former Qantas employee,’ the Prime Minister said.
But before the book even gets to the contents page there is a photo of Aston that refers to him as the then-Qantas corporate communications senior adviser.
Joe Aston (pictured) got the kind of book launch every first time author dreams of – massive amounts
of free publicity online, in newspapers and on TV and radio
Anthony Albanese (right) is pictured with his fiance Jodie Haydon (left) and then Qantas CEO
Alan Joyce on March 31, 2023 in Sydney, Australia
And the first chapter of the book reveals that he worked for then-Liberal MP Bruce Baird, who held
the southern Sydney seat of Cook before Scott Morrison.
‘My professional history is not a secret or not disclosed, it’s in the first line of the first page of the
book,’ Aston said on Tuesday night, just before his book launch.
Though he was grateful for the free publicity Mr Albanese’s response gave
the book, Aston was still ‘staggered’ at the untrue claims about him the
Prime Minister made.
‘He’s under enormous pressure and I know, I’ve seen this many times with
public figures and leaders who struggle to see their own part in it,
the terrible circumstances that they create,’ he said.

Extravagant Qantas perk Anthony Albanese FAILED
to declare is revealed… after two days of denials
Asked if Mr Albanese had been poorly advised in his attack, Aston, who
is a former Australian Financial Review columnist, wonders if the Prime
Minister ‘even listens to advice at this point’.
‘All he’s doing is talking around the issue and he’s
blaming me and he’s blaming other MP’s for also taking upgrades (on Qantas flights).
‘He’s avoiding the only thing that he can’t talk about, which
is, did you ask Qantas for confirmed upgrades on your private holidays when you were the Transport Minister?
The answer is “yes” and he’s desperately trying to avoid saying it.’
Smelling blood, Opposition leader Peter Dutton said the Prime Minister should refer himself to the anti-corruption commission over the flight upgrades.
Coming on top of Mr Albanese’s tone deaf purchase of a $4.3million clifftop mansion while so many
people are struggling to pay their mortgage or rent,
the latest blow to his credibility has led to calls for him to resign.
Aston refuses to be drawn on this, though.
‘I never expected this (part of the book) to even this part to get this far.
I really am shocked at how it’s blown up.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is pictured with the
then Qantas CEO Alan Joyce
Anthony Albanese is pictured on August 14, 2023 as Qantas unveiled
its Yes23 livery in support of a Yes vote in the Indigenous Voice to Parliament referendum
Among the movers and shakers at Joe Aston’s
book launch in the ritzy Hemmesphere club in Sydney was Tabcorp
director David Gallop (pictured)
Paul Barry (pictured in blue shirt), the host of the ABC’s Media Watch show, was also at the launch
‘So to the extent that it has, I would say … anyone who reads the book will learn that this book is not a hit
job on Anthony Albanese. This book is about Qantas.
‘Anthony Albanese is an example of how Qantas influences politicians
on both sides of the aisle, Labor, Liberal, National, you name
it. They’ve been doing it for more than a generation.
‘They’re the best influence peddler in Australia. I’m not here trying to
get a scalp. That’s not what this book is about and it never
was.’
But the conversation Daily Mail Australia had with Aston mirrors the conversations
being had across Australia and eventually winds up back on Mr Albanese.
‘Even I’ve underestimated how fed up the public is with the
freebie mindset of politicians,’ he said.
Guests at Joe Aston’s book launch on Tuesday night are pictured pointing for emphasis or to someone they recognise
There was no shortage of free alcohol (pictured) available at the launch of Joe Aston’s book
Joe Aston is pictured in the exclusive Hemmesphere club in Sydney,
where his book The Chairman’s Lounge was launched
‘And unfortunately for Albanese, he’s been in politics a long time and that kind of behaviour is quite normalised to him, is what
I’ve seen.
‘I mean, he loves the free concert tickets and sitting at the front
row of the Australian Open Tennis.
‘I went to the Australian Open Tennis as a journalist almost every year for
12 years and he was the only Prime Minister (I saw there).
‘Those tickets are worth thousands of dollars to sit in the front row of the
International Grand Slam. He’s the first Prime Minister who I’ve ever
seen do that.
‘That to me is a sign that he doesn’t quite get what it looks like to
others when he’s on the gravy train. And I think
(the claims in the book are) just another example of that.’
In Australian politics it’s regular practise for an MP’s travel
to be booked in economy, then someone in their office
phones the airline and asks if their flight can be upgraded.
The difference with the Prime Minister is that ‘he had a very direct line to Alan Joyce,’ Aston said.
‘The other thing is there’s a difference between an upgrade where it’s in the booking and if the seat’s empty when the flight closes, you’ll get
upgraded.
‘This is different. This is a confirmed upgrade where the
ticket is converted and you are guaranteed.
You’re not going to the airport crossing your fingers going “Geez, I hope there is a spare seat”.
‘You’re guaranteed. You turn up knowing you’re getting a
seat and the only person at Qantas who can issue those types of upgrades is the
CEO. No other executive can do that.
‘So it is beyond question that Alan joints authorised these
upgrades (for Anthony Albanese).’
Aston enjoyed many upgrades to the pointy end of planes during
his time as a travel journalist, and understands the attraction for politicians to get up there.
‘These things are tempting and it’s human nature too.
Once you’ve experienced the front of the plane, it’s very hard to go back.
‘For politicians, they run around with all these staff and they’ve got chauffeured cars and they fly in business, but they don’t get paid like
CEOs …
‘They’re not in a situation where they can afford to go flying around in the front of the plane on personal
travel.
‘A normal person would say “Therefore I won’t (fly business class). But (for politicians) it’s a culture of entitlement.’
Aston is careful to point out that most people would say politicians are ‘very well paid compared to the average worker’.
But that doesn’t stop some MPs from desperately seeking a free ride, whether it’s a flight upgrade, concert tickets or the executive box at sporting events.
Late on Wednesday night, a spokeswoman Mr Albanese said ‘The Prime Minister did not ever call Alan Joyce seeking an upgrade’.
‘All travel has been appropriately declared and is a matter of public record.’
Daily Mail Australia has contacted Qantas for comment.
The Chairman’s Lounge – The Inside Story of how Qantas sold us out, by Joe Aston, is available now in bookshops and from online retailers
WHAT IS THE QANTAS CHAIRMAN’S LOUNGE?
The Qantas Chairman’s Lounge is an invitation-only club approved by the company chairman, with the guest list a closely-guarded secret.
It has been dubbed ‘the most exclusive club in the country’ and comes with a distinct black card.
Members include senior-ranking MPs such as ministers, state premiers and the Prime Minister, leaders of major unions and sporting groups, Qantas ambassadors, selected A-list celebrities, major corporate figures and high-profile media personalities.
The clubs can be found in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide airports but are not signposted – you have to know where to look.
Inside you will find expensive wood and brass furnishings, wool carpet and marble flooring, all bathed in natural light.
Members enjoy fine à la carte dining with a complimentary premium array of beers, spirits and Australian wines. Wine bottles are often given as departing gifts.
Facilities may also include spas, showers and an assortment of books and magazines.
Members may bring in two guests at a time.
Lounge attendants personally alert you when your flight is ready to board, and your personal preferences are logged for each flight.
Membership also entitles you to first-class facilities at Qantas partner airlines.

The singer, 38, who stars as Harley Quinn in the upcoming thriller,
wore a bright red chiffon gown, with a pleated skirt for
a Warner Bros. dinner.
It is the much-anticipated follow-up to 2019’s Academy Award-winning Joker, which earned more than $1 billion at the global box office and remains the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time.
Set for release on October 4, the second instalment finds Arthur Fleck institutionalised at Arkham awaiting trial for his crimes
as Joker.
‘While struggling with his dual identity, Arthur not only stumbles upon true love,
but also finds the music that’s always been inside him,’ a press
release shared.
Lady Gaga has been supported by her fiancé Michael
in the lead up to the thriller’s premiere.
The couple was first romantically linked around New
Year’s Eve 2019 and later went Instagram official in early
2020.
Polansky is a 2006 graduate of Harvard University and runs Napster founder Sean Parker’s Parker Group.
Throughout their years dating, Gaga and Polansky have attended
the Super Bowl, the BAFTAs, and the Critics Choice Awards together.
Wedding plans for the couple are underway and their legal plan is being negotiated.

Gaga is reportedly seeking a $900 million prenup before she walks
down the aisle.
And Polansky, who has a $600 million net worth as head of The Parker Foundation, is on board.
A source close to the couple told In Touch that ‘there are a lot of assets on both sides, and a prenup
will just make everything clear.’
Gaga ‘is worth $900 million, so of course there needs to be a prenup in place,’ the insider said.
‘And Michael understands that. He’s not resisting it.’

The bold, confident, free-thinking modern woman who may soon occupy
the White House is not named Kamala Harris.
In her new No.1 New York Times best-selling memoir, Melania Trump
shares a revealing look into her personal life and journey – from a childhood in small-town Slovenia,
to globetrotting pursuits as a young model, to her courtship and
marriage to one of the world’s most famous men.
She also corrects the record, challenges her critics and clarifies her
positions on a range of issues from abortion (she’s pro-choice)
to the inclusion of biological men in women’s sports
(female athletes must always be ‘protected and respected’).
In fact, she sounds like many female voters grappling with the whiplash changes wrought
by Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’s time in the White House.
The bold, confident, free-thinking modern woman who may soon occupy the White House is not named Kamala Harris.
(Pictured: Kellyanne with Donald and Melania Trump
at the White House in 2019).
‘The country is suffering,’ she writes. ‘We have wars around the world…
The border is open and dangerous… a lot of fentanyl is coming
over and killing our youth…. The economy is really not great, inflation is high.’
I’ve known and worked alongside Melania for many years, and regard her as a friend.
She has been unfairly maligned and the target of so much speculation and prevarication. That is
why it has been so wonderful to see her own ‘October Surprise’, a memoir
in her own words on her own timeline, showing the measured, magnanimous woman tens of millions of Americans adore.
Earlier this year, Melania and I lost our mothers just weeks apart.
Even as she navigated her loss in public view, Melania made every effort to
be there for me. She and President Trump called, sent flowers, handwritten notes and checked in with me time and again.
After my divorce was finalized last year, Melania showed up again, supporting me as any caring friend would and encouraging me to swing open soldered doors following a time of personal upheaval
and transition.

KELLYANNE CONWAY: Don’s back! Here’s his new 2024 blueprint
And it was the same story when we worked together in the
White House. While Jill Biden has insisted on being called ‘Doctor’, Melania was admired and beloved by the
political and permanent staffers alike, asking
after their children by name, welcoming them to
events big and small, and treating them with inclusivity and respect.
Known as a protective and present mother, Melania now uses her memoir to call
out the ‘sheer malice’ of unfunny comic Rosie O’Donnell who,
in 2016, tweeted despicable and totally unfounded
claims about Barron, then aged 10.
It was just weeks after Trump had stunned the world and won, and the same liberal media and
Hollywood types, who perpetuated every vicious attack against him, reveled as
O’Donnell’s vile lie wormed its way across social media.
It was a shock to see such naked cruelty towards
a First Child, especially when so many of us had treated Chelsea Clinton and the Obama daughters like Fabergé eggs.
Kids (including mine) should always be off limits.
I’ve known and worked alongside Melania for many years, and regard her as a friend.
(Pictured together in 2018 visiting Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center).
Earlier this year, Melania and I lost our mothers just weeks apart.
Even as she navigated her loss in public view, Melania made every effort to be
there for me. She and President Trump called, sent flowers,
handwritten notes and checked in with me time and again. (Pictured:
Together with Trump in the White House in 2019).
But instead of going to war, Melania acted swiftly and tenderly to shield
her son. She channeled maternal outrage into a first lady’s focus on initiatives centered around children’s wellness and
cyberbullying awareness. Her ‘Be Best’ campaign remains a highlight of her time in office.
Melania has never been one for preening and posturing.
Other first ladies used their roles to land on the cover of fashion magazines, but she did so on her own, years before, as a successful model.
Even when I’ve suggested she push back on myriad false claims made by the media
or ungrateful former staffers who have returned her trust
in them with self-serving lies and revisionist history,
she has declined, knowing that her silence is always more powerful.
Behind closed doors, Trump has, for decades,
regarded his wife as a top confidante and counselor. Whether as
an international business mogul, a TV star or, lately, leader of the free world,
it is Melania’s opinion that he has consistently sought.
Trump enjoys the company of plenty of friends, taking a range of advice,
but he speaks of – and to – Melania in an entirely unique way.
Really, he fears yet reveres her. He respects her independence, seeks her input, trusts her keen eye, sharp ear and sense of
people.
I have witnessed their relationship up close, and it is one fundamentally built on mutual love and respect.
Recently, as Barron was heading off for college and Melania was preparing to publish her memoir, I jokingly asked
Trump how it might feel to be the second most popular man and the second
most prominent author in the household. He chuckled and relented.
Melania Trump has plenty to say and nothing to prove. She is
not a typical political spouse rushing to the cameras on matters that are best
handled privately, or loudly offering insights or slights about
her husband’s political opponents à la Hillary Clinton and Michelle Obama.
She is an asset, a partner, an equal who is neither trying to control – looking at you, Jill Biden – nor controlled by her partner.
She is what many feminists insist they are: independent, a product of her own choices, comfortable in her own skin.
She has been by Trump’s side the entire time. Though never in his shadow.
In fact, from that very first moment they descended the golden escalator, she’s been leading the way.

Amid tepid returns at the box office for Joker:
Folie à Deux, a number of fans of the sequel took to social media over the
weekend in defense of the sequel to Todd Phillips’ 2019 motion picture.
The film, which sees Joaquin Phoenix return to the lead role of The Joker/Arthur Fleck, debuted to a paltry $40 million at the domestic
box office, good enough for the weekend’s top spot, but less than projections,
and half that of its predecessor.
Amid the early returns, a number of fans took up for the
movie and its cinematic depth, in breaking away from the cookie cutter nature of sequels to introduce a musical element not present in the first film,
with Lady Gaga joining the franchise.
‘Joker 2 was amazing,’ one user said, adding that it was ‘100% as
divisive as people are making it out to be.
I love that the film didn’t try to be a traditional sequel, and
fully committed to the storytelling they presented. It never deviated to be a film full of Easter eggs or any other crowd pleasing aspects.’
Another user said, ‘I kinda loved Joker 2. I loved how it was structured as a meta-exploration of the first film’s fandom
and the musical elements were a lot of fun.’

Some users said that the bad word-of-mouth the film was suffering from was impacting the
opinions of moviegoers.
‘The Joker 2 hate is so forced like did we watched the same movie????????’ one
user said, while another said the hate for the film is ‘so unjustified.’
One fan predicted that the motion picture with stand
the test of time with audiences.
‘I may be one of ten people who genuinely liked the Joker 2.
Remember me when society circles back to it in 10 years and
says its a masterpiece,’ said the user. ‘The world just wasn’t ready
for it yet.’
Said one user: ‘I actually thoroughly enjoyed it.
If you don’t like musicals or ‘art house’ style films you
probably won’t like it because it’s not made for you. The dynamic between Harley and Joker was brilliant and showcased the ‘obsession’ that
is key to that duo.’
The movie’s box office collapse was swift and has many
in the industry wondering: How did the highly anticipated
sequel to an Oscar-winning, billion-dollar film with the same creative team
go wrong? Just three weeks ago, tracking services pegged the movie for a $70 million debut, which would still have been down a
fair amount from Joker’s record-breaking $96.2 million launch in October 2019.

Reviews were mixed out of the Venice Film Festival, where it premiered in competition like the first movie and even got
a 12-minute standing ovation.
But the homecoming glow was short-lived, and the
fragile foundation would crumble in the coming weeks with its Rotten Tomatoes score dropping from 63 percent
at Venice to 33 percent by its first weekend in theaters. Perhaps even more surprising were the audience reviews:
Ticket buyers polled on opening night gave the film a deadly D CinemaScore.
Exit polls from PostTrak weren’t any better. It got a meager
half star out of five possible.
‘That´s a double whammy that´s very difficult to recover from,’ said Paul
Dergarabedian, the senior media analyst for Comscore.
‘The biggest issue of all is the reported budget.
A $40 or $50 million opening for a less expensive movie would be a solid debut.’
Joker: Folie à Deux cost at least twice as much as the first
film to produce, though reported figures vary at exactly how pricey it was to make.
Phillips told Variety that it was less than the reported $200
million; Others have it pegged at $190 million. Warner Bros.
released the film in 4,102 locations in North America.
About 12.5 percent of its domestic total came from 415 IMAX screens.
Internationally, it’s earned $81.1 million from 25,788 screens,
bringing its total global earnings estimate to $121.1
million. In the next two weeks, Joker 2 will also open in Japan and China.
Second place went to Universal and DreamWorks Animation’s The Wild Robot, which added $18.7
million in its second weekend, bringing its domestic total to nearly $64
million. Globally, it’s made over $100 million. Warner Bros.’ Beetlejuice Beetlejuice took third place
in weekend five, Paramount’s Transformers One landed
in fourth and Universal and Blumhouse’s Speak No Evil rounded out the top five.
The other big new release of the weekend, Lionsgate’s
White Bird, flopped with just $1.5 million from just over 1,000
locations, despite an A+ CinemaScore.
Overall, the weekend is up from the same frame last year, but Joker’s start is an unwelcome twist for theater owners hoping to narrow the box office deficit.
The sequel has already been the subject of many think pieces,
some who posit that it was deliberately alienating fans of the first
movie
Phillips and star Joaquin Phoenix have said they aspired to make something as ‘audacious’
as the first film. The sequel added Lady Gaga
into the fold , as a Joker superfan, and delved further
into the mind of Arthur Fleck, imprisoned at Arkham and awaiting trial for the murders he committed
in the first. It´s also a musical, with elaborately imagined song and dance numbers to old standards.
Gaga even released a companion album called ”Harlequin,’ alongside the
film.
The sequel has already been the subject of many think pieces, some who
posit that it was deliberately alienating fans of the first movie.
In cruder terms, it´s been called a ‘middle finger.’ But fans often ignore the advice of critics, especially when it comes to opening their wallets to see revered comic book characters on the big screen.
‘They took a swing for the fences,’ Dergarabedian said. ‘But except for a couple of outliers, audiences in 2024 seem to want to know what they´re getting
when they´re going to the theater. They want the tried and
true, the familiar.’
Deadline editor Anthony D´Alessandro thinks the problem started
with the idea to make the Joker sequel a musical. ‘No fan of the
original movie wanted to see a musical sequel,’ he wrote on Saturday.
The first film was also divisive and the subject of much discourse, then about whether it might send
the wrong message to the wrong type of person. And yet
people still flocked to see what the fuss was about.
Joker went on to pick up 11 Oscar nominations, including best picture and best director, and three wins.
It also made over $1 billion and was the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time, until this summer
when Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine took the crown.
Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Comscore.
Final domestic figures will be released Monday.

What do pop star Lily Allen, Olympic gold medal-winning diver Jack Laugher, tennis player Nick Kyrgios and 25-year-old Bonnie Blue from Nottingham, who
has filmed herself having sex with hundreds of 18-year-old students (and sometimes
their dads, too), all have in common?
Yes, you guessed it. They are all ‘creatives’
on OnlyFans, the adults-only online content provider founded in 2016 by a young Essex businessman called Tim
Stokely, which is now one of the most visited (and
lucrative) websites in the world.
Just last month, Lily Allen caused a stir by revealing that she makes
more money charging $10 (£8) – the site works in dollars – for pictures of her feet on her OnlyFans account labelled ‘La Dolca
Feeta’ than she does from her 7.5million monthly
listeners on Spotify.
But Lily’s content is tame in comparison to much of
the content on the site, the sort company execs refer to as ‘spicy’.
Everything from cheeky shots of bottoms peeking out of bubble baths, blondes stirring vats of steaming pasta
in G-strings, hot men waxing cars in their pants, right through the
sex spectrum to twosomes, threesomes, sixsomes and hardcore pornographic videos.
But also because, thanks to the allure of OnlyFans and the
astonishing sums that a teeny number of the platform’s 4.1million creatives are raking in,
more and more young women (and it is mostly young women)
who would never have considered it before are suddenly happy to join in and sell photos of, well,
pretty much anything, to pay rent, settle credit card bills or splash out on nice holidays.
Basically, a flashier life all round.
‘We feel empowered. We have agency. It’s completely up to me if I
take my top off or not,’ says one 21-year-old girl, who joined a year ago
and makes enough in a week to cover a year’s
student rent at Sheffield University and prefers not to give her name.
‘And I am happy to do it because for once I make the rules, in the safety of my home and they’re paying me
to do it. It’s a mug’s game, but I am not the
mug.’
For the benefit of those readers who are not among the site’s
305million users, OnlyFans offers creators a platform where they
can charge their fans a subscription fee ranging from $4.99 to $49.99 a month
to look at their content, contact them (or more
often access their ‘chatter’ – more of which later) and access often more explicit, personalised, ‘à
la carte’ content through ‘tips’.
OnlyFans model Bonnie Blue has filmed herself having sex with hundreds of 18-year-olds
Rapper Cardi B is said to make $9million (£7.1million) a month from the
site
Actress Bella Thorne, a former Disney child star,
made a record-breaking $1million (£800,
000) in 24 hours
‘Pay $10 to unlock this video’. ‘Click
here for more spicy content’. ‘The more you pay, the more you see’.
You get the gist.
In 2023, the site generated a record $6.6billion (£5.2billion), of which the company takes
a straight 20 per cent – much less than YouTube – and
the rest goes to the ‘performers’.
It is unlike Instagram or other social media sites in that nothing is
suggested – instead, you have to search for,
and then subscribe to, individual accounts to see much more than profile pictures.
Which is a good thing, because while some of the content is anodyne, much
is highly sexual and many people on the site can bob freely from one to another.
Perhaps a cookery hack one day, modelling new boots the next, then graduate to a few
cheeky cleavage and bikini shots and more, as the money becomes more tempting.
Every week, it seems, we hear of someone who has made millions.
Last month it was announced that American influencer Corinna Kopf had retired from the site, aged 28, after making $67million (£53million).
In her best month, she reportedly earned more than $2million (£1.6million).
Rapper Cardi B is said to earn more than $9million (£7.1million) a month from
the site.
Meanwhile, Darcie Rattles was an out-of-work bricklayer with £6,000 in credit card bills and debts when she joined OnlyFans in 2022.
‘I was thinking: how the hell am I going to get to
next week? How am I going to pay my credit cards?’ she says in an online interview.
‘I’m young, I’ve got a good body and I’ve got a
lot of followers. It is what any girl would turn to.
It had been in the back of mind for two years,
but then I did it.’
Within two days of launching, she had earned enough to pay off
her debts. Today, Darcie, who comes across as likeable, down-to-earth and has no qualms about what
she shares, claims to earn more than £250,000
a year.
Pop singer Lily Allen has discovered a niche market…
… she sells pictures of her feet for £8 and makes
more money from her account labelled ‘La Dolca Feeta’ than she does from her 7.5million monthly listeners
on Spotify
‘It doesn’t matter to me whether I get my feet out, or my other bits out,’
she says.
Though it does tend to be the other bits, because Darcie’s content promises very few
clothes and, for those who pay extra, ‘a naughty side to me you’ve never seen before’.
But even Darcie seems like the girl next door compared to Lily Phillips, a British model who earned £2,000 in her first 24 hours on the site and recently went viral for
sleeping with 101 men over a 14-hour period. She has since announced
she is planning to set a record of having sex with 1,000 men in 24 hours.
And Bonnie Blue, a beautiful blonde with a golden tan and astonishingly white teeth, who has worked her way round Derby, Nottingham, Cancun and Australia,
sleeping with university students.
On one night during Nottingham Trent freshers’ week – after publicising her stunt by wearing a sandwich board that read: ‘Bonk me
for free and let me film it’ – she had boys queuing up from 6pm until five
in the morning.
‘I got through them all,’ she said proudly in one interview
in which she reminds us that, thanks to OnlyFans, she has already banked more
than £3 million – for which she was applauded by her followers for her entrepreneurship.
But all that is chicken feed when you consider the £370 million dividend that company
owner paid himself last year.
And these days that’s Leonid Radvinsky, who bought a majority stake from Tim Stokely in 2018, two years
after he started the business with the help of a loan from his
father.
It was the Covid-era lockdowns that thrust OnlyFans into the stratosphere.
Everyone shut up at home, nothing to do. In 2020,
it generated revenues of $2.23billion (£1.8billion).
By 2021, it was up to $4.8billion (£3.8billion).
There was a brief hiatus in October of that year when they tried banning
sexually explicit content but that lasted about ten minutes before they switched
back.
There have been plenty of scandals along the way. A BBC investigation back in 2021 revealed that children were not just accessing the material online by foxing
the age verification process but were also selling explicit videos on the
website. Leah, 17, had used a fake driving licence to set up
an OnlyFans account where she made £5,000 uploading revealing videos of herself.
There have also been claims of OnlyFans creators using public gyms and spaces to make adult content.
Recently there has been more concerns that the
company is not doing enough to protect minors.
OnlyFans, however, prefers to portray itself as a force for good, with supporters arguing that it empowers people by allowing them to sell
content – over which they have full control – directly to consumers.
And many of the Gen Z generation seem to agree. ‘It’s fine.
It’s empowering. It’s taking control,’ they cry, pointing out that the site
has loads of moderators and a tight security system to ensure that all users are over 18.
And they say, anyway, that OnlyFans isn’t just about sex.
Of course, they’re right. It has long been awash with pneumatic reality TV stars and
the likes of Lottie Moss, Kerry Katona and Katie Price, who are
happy to tease their followers with a few cheeky peeks in skimpy bikinis.
I spend an afternoon browsing the site and, while it is not all
‘spicy’ content as the company executives like to call
it, everything is dripping with sauce and promise.
The big lips, the push-up bras, even the way a pretty Spanish chef is holding
her paella pan. Company executives have been pushing
hard to make the platform more mainstream – offering contracts and
financial incentives to encourage musicians,
sports stars, cooks, anyone really, to come on and share a bit
of exclusive – or niche – content.
Really, anything that people will pay to look at – glimpses backstage at
concerts. Celebrities in the bath.
During the 2024 Olympic Games, a raft of
athletes jumped on the OnlyFans bandwagon to
share pictures of their beautifully toned bodies.
Along with Jack Laugher, Team NZ rower Robbie Manson uses the site to
share ‘exclusive content that tastefully explores the boundaries,
including artistic portrayals of nudity’ for $14.99 a month.
British speedskater

OnlyFans
Reality TV star Kerry Katona has also teased followers with content
Lottie Moss has also taken to the adults-only online
content provider that was founded in 2016 and is used by 4.1 million creatives
Elise Christie turned to the site when she found herself in financial difficulties.
All of which seems to be working well for them, but it can be rather
murkier for others.
Not least because, in less than a decade, OnlyFans has spawned an entire support industry of ‘sugar daddies’
who support performers financially and ‘chatters’ who
work for them. ‘Sugar daddies’ tend to be older male businessmen who ‘invest’ in promising creatives.
In what are referred to rather murkily as ‘mutually
beneficial deals’, they invest in branding
and marketing and videography to boost traffic.
Chatters are different. For the real stars, the traffic is so high and the interaction with followers so demanding that if they had to do it all
themselves, there’s no way they would ever have time to put
their pyjamas back on.
So ‘chatters’ – a sort of online 21st-century Cyrano de Bergerac
– do that for them. Keeping them engaged, online, needy and most of all, spending, spending, spending for more and more content.
Which means, of course, that the whole thing is a total scam.
The poor daft subscriber thinks he’s really making a connection with ‘Racy Tracey from Twickenham’, but is more
likely chatting to a middle-aged father of three from the Philippines.
He will have learnt everything about Tracey – her favourite colour,
favourite animal and favourite position – have studied
a script that reminds him ‘it’s all about selling, selling, selling’,
and will be being paid $4 an hour for his efforts. Or the subscriber could just be
talking to an AI bot – which perhaps is more appealing.

A year after split, I’ve had a baby and got engaged, writes Mother Pukka
ANNA WHITEHOUSE
Chatters can be dangerous. As Alanya, a paralegal from Scotland, discovered when she learned that one of her most enthusiastic followers
had travelled to her home town to find her, encouraged by her chatter.
‘My chatter told him that I loved him. I would never, ever have said that,’ she said.
But, sadly, chatters, sugar daddies and stalkers are not a problem for most creatives.
Almost all of whom are still struggling to make any proper money, however many clothes they take off.
They will never know the clout of Cardi B, or Lily Allen, or former Disney child star
Bella Thorne, who famously made a record- breaking
$1million (£800,000) in 24 hours when she joined in August 2020.
(Though initially there was some confusion as to whether
she would be appearing nude or not. She did not – which
caused quite a rumpus.)
Because, unlike celebrities who can redirect their existing social media followers to their
OnlyFans accounts, most people find it hard to grab attention without
doing something, well, grabby.
So, despite all the tales of golden riches, the average earnings of an OnlyFans creative
is still just $150 (£118) a month and, with the market
now so flooded, is only likely to go one way.
And it’s easy to see how, if you’re a young woman who has convinced yourself that you’re in control, empowered and mistress of your
own destiny, you could find yourself moving inevitably and inexorably up (or perhaps down) the scale, revealing more and more.
Until, before you know it, like Bonnie Blue and Lily Phillips, you’ve kept nothing back for yourself.

Sept 28 (Reuters) – Philip Morris International on Thursday
said it would be filing a premarket tobacco product application (PMTA) in the
United States for its IQOS ILUMA product in October.
The company at its investor day said that while the PMTA timeline remains “hard to predict”, it expects the launch of the ILUMA heated tobacco units towards the second

IQOS heats up packets of ground tobacco but does not burn them, a process the company says potentially results in fewer health risks than traditional smoking
A PMTA is required to sell new tobacco products in the United States, with manufacturers required to provide scientific data
demonstrating a product is appropriate for the protection of public health.

to five bedrooms, and five more smaller ‘pieds-à-terre’
apartments.
The size of the homes has not yet been disclosed but the developers say even the most modest property will start with a guide price exceeded by
only a handful of mansions in London’s richest neighbourhoods.
The average price of all 29 units – which cover 300,000 sq ft – will be close to £70million.
The cost of London’s most pricey apartments will begin at £35million – with 600 megarich customers
already securing a spot on the waiting list. Pictured: A Computer generated image of the

Details of pricing at John Caudwell’s spectacular Mayfair
development has now been revealed and only those
with the deepest pockets can hope to afford one of the lavish pads.
Pictured: The building’s topping out ceremony
The entry level price of £35million is 70 times the
average London property value of around £500,000, and 130 times the national average price of £268,000
revealed in today’s Nationwide house price survey for November.
The development’s basement is being dug down to 90ft below ground level to make room
for a health spa with a 20 metre swimming pool as well as a car park.
The designs were led by New York based architect Robert
Stern and practice RAMSA, with contractors, Mace, the construction managers and PJ
Carey responsible for the creation of the basement substructure
and superstructure.
Due to complete in Spring 2026 after a six years
build the scheme will easily surpass London’s previous record breaker, the £1.3billion One Hyde Park development
in Knightsbridge. Pictured: The ground floor at 1 Mayfair

Caudwell – who founded the mobile phones retailers Phones 4u – attended the topping out of 1 Mayfair alongside senior members of the construction team.
The ceremony was marked by the final steel rafter, one
of 79 at roof level, being put into place on the top of the
nine-storey main apartment building.
No expense has been spared on the building’s interior and it will feature a ceiling with hand-painted frescos based on Michelangelo’s Map of the Heavens in the Vatican,
a reception room with a double height ceiling and 18ft high French windows overlooking the garden.
There will also be a Palace of Versailles Hall of Mirrors-style crystal callery, created from over
1,264 hand-set pieces of cut glass, a library and a garden gallery,
with seating areas opening directly onto the central courtyard garden.

Sept 28 (Reuters) – Philip Morris International on Thursday said it would be filing a premarket tobacco product application (PMTA) in the United States for its IQOS ILUMA product in October.
The company at its investor day said that while the PMTA timeline remains
“hard to predict”, it expects the launch of the
ILUMA heated tobacco units towards the second half of its three-year forecast period of 2024 to 2026.
IQOS heats up packets of ground tobacco but does not burn them, a
process the company says potentially results in fewer health risks than traditional smoking
A PMTA is required to sell new tobacco products in the
United States, with manufacturers required to provide
scientific data demonstrating a product is appropriate
for the protection of public health.

PLANT OUT SPRING BEDDING
Wallflowers get their name from their habit of growing near stone walls.
Erysimum cheiri are shortlived evergreen perennials or biennials often grown as spring bedding.
You can buy them as plug plants now and get them in the ground
to flower early next year. This is a fun activity to do with children or
grandchildren. All you need is a well-weeded flower bed in a sunny spot, gardening gloves, and a trowel.
Dig a hole so that the base of the plant is level with the soil.
Pop in your young wallflower, firm the earth around it and water well.
Repeat, leaving 20cm between plants.
They can grow to up to 50cm high depending on the variety and come in a range of bright colours.
E. ‘Fireglow’ is a dazzling red and orange variety; E. ‘Bowles Mauve’ is light purple, while E.
‘Sunset Primrose’ is a fragrant lemon yellow.

This is also the time to plant plugs of Sweet Williams (Dianthus barbatus).
These are also biennials or short-lived perennials which grow to between 40 to 60cm with clusters of carnation-like flowers from
February to June in colours from white to deep pink, often in a combination of two tones.
They prefer well-drained, alkaline to neutral soil in full sun.

Joaquin Phoenix has revealed that he spoke with filmmaker Christopher Nolan about playing Joker which ultimately went to Heath Ledger.
The 50-year-old actor – whose latest flick Joker: Folie À Deux could be streamed now – got candid about potentially playing the supervillain before he actually portrayed him.
Joaquin recently appeared on Rick Rubin’s Tetragrammaton podcast as he revealed that he spoke to
the 54-year-old Oscar-winning filmmaker Nolan about portraying Joker over a decade before.
He said: That didn’t… wasn’t going to happen for a number of reasons.
I wasn’t ready then.
‘That’s one of those things sometimes where you go: “Why am I not doing this project? What is stopping me from doing this? Well it’s not about me, there’s something else. There’s another person that’s going to do something that’s like, I can’t imagine what it would be if we didn’t have Heath Ledger‘s performance in that film.”‘

Joker: Folie À Deux heading to streaming after box office flop
In 2020, Joaquin earned the Best Lead Actor Oscar for Todd Phillips directed Joker which was 11 years after Ledger posthumously earned Best Supporting
Actor for The Dark Knight in 2009.
Joaquin continued: ‘I don’t know whether Christopher Nolan was coming to me saying, “You are definitely the person.”
‘I can’t remember the context of how we met. But I know that
we met, and my feeling was, “I shouldn’t do this.” But
maybe he also was like, “You’re not the guy.” I couldn’t say.’
Heath died in a New York City apartment on January 22,
2008, after accidentally overdosing following months of physical and mental exhaustion.
The Dark Knight actor died aged 28 after taking a fatal
cocktail of drugs, leaving behind his daughter, who
was two years old at the time.

The movie, starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, is now available to rent from home starting October 29, in an effort to recoup some of Warner Bros.
investment into the film, as per Variety.
The musical, which bombed at the box office, is ‘poised to lose at least
$150 million to $200 million in its theatrical run’ according
to the publication.

Terrifier 3 dethrones Joker: Folie À Deux as box office champ
The movie studio spent about $200 million to produce the film and about
$100 million on marketing and distribution, according to the report.
It would need to gross about $450 million at the box office to
break even — when factoring in the cut taken by theaters —
though Warner Bros. sources claim the number is $375 million.
A Warner Bros. spokesperson responded to the report, saying ‘Any estimates
suggested by anonymous “insiders” or “rival executives” are
grossly wrong and continues a trend where rumor is reported as fact.’
‘The film continues to play in theatrical release, included with this week’s opening in China,
and will continue to earn revenue throughout its home viewing and ancillary run.’
So far, the musical about Batman’s nemesis has grossed
$51.5 million domestically and $165 million globally after two
weeks of release.
In comparison, the first Joker grossed $96.2 million domestically
and $248.4 million globally after three days of release.
The hotly-anticipated sequel to the 2019 billion dollar Oscar-winning film was considered a surefire hit

Phoenix reprised his role as the Joker in the sequel, which had earned him an Oscar for his portrayal in the 2019 film,
while Gaga took on the role of Harleen Lee Quinzel (Harley Quinn).
However, Joker: Folie À Deux has been given a D rating on CinemaScore — the lowest score for a
comic book movie.
Madame Web — which notably also flopped in theaters earlier this year
and also received terrible reviews — holds a higher score with a C+.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie currently holds an audience score
of 31% and a critic score of 32%.
The sequel has been roundly criticized for being a musical and ‘ignoring’ the DC fanbase – with an agent familiar with director Todd Phillips’
process telling Variety he ‘wanted nothing to do with DC’ during the making of the film, with DC bosses James Gunn
and Peter Safran notably absent from the film’s LA premiere afterparty last month.
A source said: ‘If the first movie was about some down-on-his-luck,
mentally ill guy in a downtrodden city, it makes maybe $150 [million] worldwide.
Not a billion. People showed up because that guy was Joker.’
In an apparent snub by Phillips, the opening sequence of the
film does not include a DC Studios logo.
A Warner spokesman added that a DC logo appears at the end of the
Joker sequel, while Phillips declined to comment to the publication.
Several frictions are said to have developed between Phillips, DC and Warner- with claims that Michael DeLuca, Chairperson of Warner
Bros. Entertainment, and CEO Pamela Abdy seemed ‘unwilling’ to say no to Phillips due to his huge past successes.
It is claimed Phillips would ‘only’ speak with DeLuca and
Abdy rather than Gunn and Safran – who took control of DC two months before production began on Joker 2 in December 2022.
Gunn and Safran did attend the first director’s cut screening for the studio but Phillips fueled rift speculation when he told a reporter:
‘With all due respect to them, this is kind of a Warner Bros.
movie.’
Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav also met with Phillips shortly after WarnerMedia and Discovery merged in April 2022 and was ‘open to filming in Los
Angeles if the director would make the sequel
at a lower price point.’
The studio wanted to film in London which would have cost
around 20 per cent less.
A source directly involved with the film recently shared:
‘The one thing about genre stuff: If you don’t listen and pay
attention to what the fan expectations are, you’re going to fail';
director Todd Phillips seen with Gaga and Phoenix at the LA premiere
September 30
However, Phillips insisted on filming in LA with
the budget remaining static.
A Warner spokesman told the publication the studio ‘supported the decision to
film in Los Angeles’.
A source directly involved with the film said: ‘No
one could get through to Todd. And the one thing about genre stuff: If you don’t listen and pay attention to what
the fan expectations are, you’re going to fail.
Insiders also claim studio bosses did not want
to premiere the film at the Venice Film Festival, but Phillips pushed back – with a Warner spokesman saying the studio ‘fully
supported the decision to bring the film to Venice.
Along with Gaga and Phoenix, other stars that had appeared
in the sequel include Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Zazie
Beatz and Steve Coogan.

That set off a string a big hits for the filmmaker that includes Unbreakable

of Lady In The Water (2006), which barely covered the $70 million budget.
His biggest box office success was with The Sixth Sense,

To date, the film made $6.6 million on its first day, including an estimated $2.2 million from the Thursday night previews.

inflation is high.’
I’ve known and worked alongside Melania for many

She has been unfairly maligned and the target of so much speculation and
prevarication. That is why it has been so wonderful to see her own ‘October Surprise’, a memoir in her

KELLYANNE CONWAY: Don’s back! Here’s his new 2024
blueprint
And it was the same story when we worked together in the White House.
While Jill Biden has insisted on being called ‘Doctor’, Melania was admired and beloved
by the political and permanent staffers alike, asking after their children by name, welcoming them
to events big and small, and treating them with inclusivity
and respect.
Known as a protective and present mother, Melania now uses her memoir to call out the
‘sheer malice’ of unfunny comic Rosie O’Donnell who, in 2016,
tweeted despicable and totally unfounded claims about Barron, then aged
10.
It was just weeks after Trump had stunned the world and won, and the same liberal media and Hollywood types, who perpetuated every vicious attack against him, reveled as O’Donnell’s vile lie
wormed its way across social media.
It was a shock to see such naked cruelty towards a First Child, especially when so many of us had
treated Chelsea Clinton and the Obama daughters like Fabergé eggs.
Kids (including mine) should always be off limits.
I’ve known and worked alongside Melania for many years, and
regard her as a friend. (Pictured together in 2018 visiting Cincinnati Children’s
Hospital Medical Center).

But instead of going to war, Melania acted swiftly and tenderly to shield her son. She channeled maternal outrage into a first lady’s focus on initiatives centered around children’s wellness and cyberbullying awareness.
Her ‘Be Best’ campaign remains a highlight of her time in office.
Melania has never been one for preening and posturing.
Other first ladies used their roles to land on the cover of fashion magazines, but she did so on her own, years before, as a
successful model.
Even when I’ve suggested she push back on myriad false claims made by the media
or ungrateful former staffers who have returned her trust in them with self-serving lies and revisionist history, she has declined,
knowing that her silence is always more powerful.
Behind closed doors, Trump has, for decades, regarded his wife as
a top confidante and counselor. Whether as an international business mogul, a TV star or, lately, leader of the free world,
it is Melania’s opinion that he has consistently sought.
Trump enjoys the company of plenty of friends, taking a range of
advice, but he speaks of – and to – Melania in an entirely unique way.
Really, he fears yet reveres her. He respects her independence, seeks her input, trusts her keen eye, sharp ear and sense of people.
I have witnessed their relationship up close, and it is one fundamentally
built on mutual love and respect. Recently, as Barron was heading
off for college and Melania was preparing to publish her memoir,
I jokingly asked Trump how it might feel to be
the second most popular man and the second most prominent
author in the household. He chuckled and relented.
Melania Trump has plenty to say and nothing to prove.
She is not a typical political spouse rushing to the cameras on matters that are best handled privately, or loudly offering insights or slights about
her husband’s political opponents à la Hillary Clinton and
Michelle Obama.
She is an asset, a partner, an equal who is neither trying
to control – looking at you, Jill Biden – nor controlled by her partner.
She is what many feminists insist they are: independent,
a product of her own choices, comfortable in her own skin.
She has been by Trump’s side the entire time.
Though never in his shadow. In fact, from that very first moment they descended
the golden escalator, she’s been leading the way.
Jackie O Henderson has left her father Tony red-faced after a shocking stunt in which he was tricked
into reading about her threesome live on-air.
The awkward family exchange occurred on Tuesday’s Kyle and Jackie O Show when the radio queen and
co-host Kyle Sandilands were discussing Jackie’s new memoir The Whole
Truth.
Before getting her father on the line, Jackie explained
to listeners that she was about to get an unsuspecting Tony to read an excerpt that detailed a
night of passion with then boyfriend ‘Ugly’ Phil O’Neil
and a 19-year-old stripper.
‘So this is going back to my Gold Coast days when I had met Phil who [later became] my first husband,’ the 49-year-old explained.
‘I had only just met him at this point. I think [we were] two months
into seeing each other.’
Jackie then prompted her unprepared father to read the excerpt that detailed Phil’s living situation with the stripper and another, rather unsavory ‘stoner’ flatmate.
‘He lived in a place in Main Beach that felt like a motel with two weird flatmates.
One was a stoner guy who would sit there blazed out of his gourd,’ Tony
read from Jackie’s book.
Jackie O Henderson has left her father Tony a little red faced after
making him read about her first threesome live on air
The book then turned to Jackie’s first ménage
à trois.
‘Then there was the stripper they lived with [named] Christie,
‘ Tony read.
‘We went out to a nightclub one night and we came home and we were having sex
and Christie decided she wanted to join us.

Jackie ‘O’ Henderson reveals shock career move after opening up about secret addiction battle
‘The idea of a threesome had obviously never occurred to me before I had
never even considered it because it didn’t sound like me.’
Tony soldiered on with the revealing passage which revealed that Jackie and Phil’s
third was only interested in one half of the equation.
‘I had no idea what to do – she was this cute 19-year-old with a dark
bob and an amazing body but she was only into women,’ Tony continued.
‘Phil was really excited but Christie kept slapping him away.
She did her thing and then left.’
When Kyle asked Jackie to clarify what she meant by ‘did her thing’,
a sheepish Jackie replied: ‘Let’s not talk about this in front
of my dad, shall we.’

Despite the raciness of the content he had just read from his daughter’s book, Tony admitted he was not
shocked by the revelations.
‘Am I amazed? Probably not,’ he said.
‘I’m sort of trying to take all of this in. After all, its my daughter we’re talking about.
If it was somebody else, it would be a different story
altogether. I’d be so excited.
‘I’ve been round the block a few times. I understand
how these things happen.’
Another passage in the book revealed a very awkward encounter between Phil’s male flatmate and Jackie’s mother Julie.
‘My mum came over once and when no one answered the door, she put her face to the screen to see
inside and that flatmate was right there in the living room, pants down, w***ing,’ a shocked Tony read.
The revelations come after Jackie spoke for the first time about her years-long battle with
drugs which saw her secretly go to rehab at The Betty Ford Clinic in November in 2022.
During a tearful on-air admission, Jackie said at the height of
her addiction, she took around 10-12 Stilnox/Ambien sleeping pills
and 24 Panadeine Forte painkillers a day.

The singer, whose hits include Bad Romance, Born This Way, Just Dance and Poker Face, is
headed back to her pop persona following the September release of her album Harlequin, which was inspired by her film, Joker:
Folie à Deux.
Among the tracks on the album included two new songs,
and standards such as That’s Entertainment, That’s Life and Get Happy.
Like the film, it was not an initial commercial success,
marking her lowest ever entry for a full-length record on the Billboard 200 charts at number 20.
Joker: Folie à Deux saw Lady Gaga play Harley Quinn opposite Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker, who earned the Best Actor Oscar
for his performance in the franchise’s 2019 film
But the sequel was critically panned and became a huge flop,
with it being reported it ‘could potentially lose $150
to $200 million’ despite studio insiders saying it would break even.

Elsewhere, Gaga opened up about her love for fiancé Michael Polansky
in a candid interview with Vogue
Gaga – real name Stefani Germanotta – told how it was actually her mother
Cynthia who met him first and thought he was perfect for her daughter, telling the singer: ‘I think I just met your
husband!’
‘I want to have a family, I want a family life. I grew up
with a very strong family and I can’t imagine not having
a normal nuclear family.’
She also expressed the desire to start a family with Michael, 46, back in 2021 after their relationship started heating up.
‘She has been telling her friends that she wants to get through a few projects
and then focus on settling down,’ a source told Entertainment Tonight at
the time.
‘Gaga wants to have children one day and sees a future with Michael.’
The entertainer had two previous engagements that were called off.
She ended her engagement to Christian Carino in early 2019, and after
becoming engaged to actor Taylor Kinney in 2015 they broke up in 2016.

Terrifier 3 star David Howard Thornton has broken his silence on the low-budget horror film demolishing $200m
flop Joker: Folie à Deux at the box office.
The grisly film – made for about $2 million – stars Thornton as
homicidal clown Art who brutally murders an array of victims in stomach churning scenes – with the
film knocking the starry Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga film off the top
of the US box office last week.
Thornton said the runaway success of his film had left him stunned as he likened to battle of the two
films to ‘David vs Goliath.’
He told TMZ: ‘Terrifier 3 was a small lower budget independent film…
I never expected this to happen in my life, I’m floored and grateful for it all.
‘We’re grateful to the fans, we have a dedicated fanbase,
we weren’t beholden to the studio system.

Terrifier 3 dethrones Joker: Folie À Deux as
box office champ
‘This shows Hollywood that we need to start making movies that take risks again.
The star said he had yet to see the panned Joker sequel, saying:
‘I was shocked too as the first Joker film I loved, I’m curious to see why people aren’t as crazy about the second one.’
Terrifier 3, written and directed by Damien Leone, is an un-rated blood fest, which
has received a 78-percent rating from the critics on Rotten Tomatoes. Audiences have ‘certified’ it ‘hot’ and given it a healthy 90-percent on the popcornmeter.
The film earned $18.3 million at the box office according to The Numbers.
Landing in third place was Joker: Folie à
Deux. After winning the box office competition during its debut weekend could not overcome the bad reviews, enduring an 82-percent decline in ticket sales.
The movie collected only $7.055 million, in spite of
being in more than four thousand theaters across the US.
Thornton said the runaway success of his film had left him stunned as he
likened to battle of the two films to ‘David
vs Goliath’ – pictured last week
He said: ‘Terrifier 3 was a small lower budget independent film…
I never expected this to happen in my life, I’m floored and grateful for it all’
The musical is ‘poised to lose at least $150 million to $200
million in its theatrical run’ according to the publication.
The movie studio spent about $200 million to produce the film and about $100 million on marketing
and distribution, according to the report.
It would need to gross about $450 million at the box office to break even —
when factoring in the cut taken by theaters — though Warner Bros.
sources claim the number is $375 million.
A Warner Bros. spokesperson responded to the report,
saying ‘Any estimates suggested by anonymous “insiders” or “rival executives”
are grossly wrong and continues a trend where rumor is reported as fact.’
‘The film continues to play in theatrical release, included
with this week’s opening in China, and will continue to earn revenue throughout its home viewing and ancillary
run.’
So far, the musical about Batman’s nemesis has grossed $51.5 million domestically and $165 million globally after two weeks
of release.
The film is ‘poised to lose at least $150 million to $200 million in its theatrical run’ according to the
publication
In comparison, the first Joker grossed $96.2 million domestically and $248.4 million globally after three days of release.
The hotly-anticipated sequel to the 2019 billion dollar Oscar-winning film was
considered a surefire hit for Warner Bros Pictures, yet ended up being slammed by critics and failed to ignite
at the box office.
Joker: Folie À Deux has garnered the lowest CinemaScore in comic book movie
history as the film bombed at the box office on opening night.

LONDON, Sept 28 (Reuters) – Philip Morris International (PMI) on Thursday signalled a slower than anticipated U.S.
roll out of its IQOS heated tobacco device, a choice analysts said
was positive for its competitors in the short term.
The New York-listed Marlboro maker also said it aims for more
than two thirds of its net revenues to come from “smoke-free” products by 2030, up from 50% in 2025, as it tries
to transform its image from a cigarette purveyor to a driver of the shift
to healthier alternatives.
Investors have been closely watching IQOS’ entry into the U.S., the world’s largest market for
nicotine products, and had been expecting it from
May 2024 next year. Reuters reported on Wednesday that
PMI is hiring lobbyists across a host of
key U.S. states ahead of the launch.
Chief Executive Jacek Olczak said IQOS would launch in four cities in two unnamed U.S.
states from 2024, but a national launch would only come after PMI receives approval to sell the latest
version, known as IQOS ILUMA.
The company was planning to apply for approval in October and expected it from 2025, he continued.
“We need to warm up the tyres,” he said of the initial launch, which would help PMI fine tune its approach.
A national roll-out of ILUMA would follow but in phases,
he continued, adding launching in 10 states in the first year would make sense.
Meaningful traction for PMI’s heated tobacco products in the
U.S. “now looks delayed until ILUMA,” Owen Bennett, equity analyst at Jefferies, said in a note,
adding this was a positive for PMI’s rivals.
Olczak also signalled that PMI’s push into non-nicotine products was no longer a priority.
It recently scrapped an ambition for $1 billion in net revenues
to come from sales of such products by 2025.
Instead, PMI will focus its resources on IQOS and nicotine
pouch brand ZYN, Olczak said, adding it had been too optimistic around acceptance of big tobacco companies operating outside of nicotine.
PMI also announced updated medium-term targets including
for revenue and earnings per share, and ambitious volume targets for IQOS and ZYN.
ZYN and other oral nicotine products in the U.S.
would help drive an expected $2 billion in revenues there in 2024, even before IQOS ILUMA,
executives said.
PMI shares were up 1.5% on Thursday. (Reporting by

Wine and beer have always formed an integral part of celebrations;
some would even take them for granted as tradition. Party mood
gets elevated when these are served in thoughtful glassware because to
some extent everyone is familiar that traditional alcoholic beverages like choice wines and beers taste much better and fulfilling when served in the right glass.
This kind of thoughtfulness can go a long way
if the parties are exclusively filled with elite or close guests.
Read on to know what choices of Wine and Beer glasses for Your Next Cocktail Party would serve your party
mood best.
Beer Glasses : Beer has several aspects: visual,
olfactory and gustatory. Not only have these aspects enhanced the experience of a particular beverage but also the
joy of spending time at a party; different glasses only seem to add.
Some glasses are meant to preserve and show off head others attract
the drink by its bright colours, fragrance and last but
not the least flavour. A lot you feel after a casual beer drink,
how you feel is a lot dependent on from which glass you have taken it in.

Beer mugs
Beer mugs

Wine Glasses : Aspects for which beer is so renowned for are actually
considered quite addictive and then some more in its more sophisticated counterpart,
wines. To wines connoisseurs, wine can never taste
same from two different glasses. A wrong glass can leave a bad impression even of a vintage.
To feel a wine as it is, you need to understand the key components
of a wine glass to make a right selection. These are bowl, a stem, and a foot.
All the wine glasses have these, with the only differences to be seen in size
and shape. Generally the type of wine decides the glass it
should go into. Sipping from the glass holding it from its stem can elevate your
experience of the drink.
White wine glass
White wine glass

you focus on the company rather than the wine itself!)

it!
