Нидерланды избавились от свалок.
Несколько лет назад на территории Нидерландов располагалось около 200 официальных свалок, что немало для страны с населением в 16 миллионов человек.
На сегодняшний день 180 из них закрыты и полностью ликвидированы. Большинство из оставшихся 20 свалок производят биогаз, используя расположенные на их территории отходы. А одна такая свалка производит столько биогаза, что его с головой хватает для обеспечения 100 000 жителей электроэнергией.
Более того, только 50% нидерландских отходов попадают на полигоны, а половина перерабатывается и используется вторично. В некоторых случаях, например, во время утилизации автомобилей, эти показатели вырастают до 95%.
Вторую жизнь получают самые разные отходы, такие как старые рамы от велосипедов (разумеется, для изготовления новых великов).
Из остатков кофе, которое производят кофейни, выращивают грибы для ресторанов.
А старые автомобили и самолёты мусором вообще не считают. Они перерабатываются и используются повторно фактически полностью.
А особо находчивые даже дают вторую жизнь пакетам из-под кофе, превращая их в сумки. 
Важно также отметить, что утилизацией и переработкой отходов занимается не только государство и крупные промышленники, а в том числе и мелкие предприниматели, включая семейный бизнес.
Итог – в Нидерландах мусора нет. Ни на свалках, ни, разумеется, на улицах городов.
